1000 TEACHER PROGRAMING FOR IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION

MORE GOOD TO QUALITY EDUCATION
Improving the quality of education becomes an urgent need and can not be put off no longer. Because, the quality of education is one of the factors that determine the future of this nation. If Indonesia want to be able to compete and become one of the country to be reckoned with at international level, like it or not education should be addressed.

Work to fix education in Indonesia is clearly not an easy thing. From the scale, the Indonesian education system is the fourth largest in the world, after China, India and the United States. World Bank report mentions, the Indonesian education system involving more than 50 million students and 2.6 million teachers in more than 250 thousand schools.

Of course too much to expect to be able to improve the quality of millions of students in a short time. There are many related factors. One effort that can be done is to improve teacher quality. The reason, teachers have a central role in the learning process at school.

In learning practices in schools in Indonesia, the teacher is a motivator and mediator for students to be able to learn effectively and efficiently. Teachers' role is to encourage more students to study hard. In this case, teachers are required to be professionals who have the ability to control the materials, methods, media, and assessments, as well as having a comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas taught.

In fact, these expectations are not easily realized. Research has shown, the professionalism of teachers, particularly at primary school level (elementary) still needs to be improved. Observations of teachers of mathematics, just mention an example, shows that teachers do not give priority to the creative activity that can develop students' thinking abilities, abilities that should be the focus of learning. Conversely, the more fun math teachers explain math concepts in the style of tutoring institutions with practical methods, rapid, and brief, but ignoring the aspect of creativity. Similar complaints also came for the learning science and Indonesian language.

Uapya that has been done to improve the quality of learning, among others, through cooperation between educational institutions, government, and society. Settling is also made to the legislation. Referring to the recent regulations in the field of national education, among others, Law No. 20 Year 2003 on National Education System, Government Regulation No. 19 Year 2005, to the Ministerial Regulation No. 22, 23, and 24 in 2006, the core teachers to act more actively prosecuted , creativity, initiative, and responsible.

Within that framework, one state-owned enterprises, namely Pertamina (Persero), in collaboration with the University of Malang, engage Millennial Teacher Empowerment through Teacher Quality Enhancement Program Integrated with Lesson Study. For Pertamina, were included in the Community Development activities that are part of the Community Development Partnership Program (CSR). This program aims to improve the quality of Indonesian education through quality teachers and professionals.

1000 PROGRAM FOR FUTURE TEACHERS
Success in educating teachers can be seen from the way of thinking and acting students. Not all teachers in Indonesia, including the category of teachers that work. For example, can be seen in some primary schools (SD). In fact, SD is the most important education to foster basic skills students.

According to Drs. H. Isnandar, M. T., IV, Vice Rector, State University of Malang (UM), the education it takes a huge investment. Moreover, 20% state budget may not be able to fix the educational needs of education in various sectors.

Seeing this, Pertamina activities for Community Development (BL) which is part of the Community Development Partnership Program Activities (CSR), namely Teachers Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) working with the State University of Malang (UM). This program aims to promote education in Indonesia through qualified teachers and professionals.

Isnandar added that this program is a partnership beneficial to both parties. Pertamina's own UM trusted thanks to his experience in the field of education. Examples of training ever undertaken by the UM is Cendana Education Foundation in this town for about three years to develop kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high school.

Pertamina 1000 program participants, held in Malang teachers are from the region around Pertamina's operation areas. Participants were selected from five provinces, 15 districts and 18 subdistricts. The five provinces are East Java (Bojonegoro, Madison, and Banyuwangi), East Kalimantan (Malimau, Penajam, North and Sand), NTB (West Lombok, Bima and Dompu), Bengkulu (Kaur and Rejang) and Jambi (Jambi Muaro and the Cape West Jabung).

Program which runs from April 21, 2010 until mid-December 2010 system features TOT (training of trainers). So, no teachers trained in all of 1000. But a few representatives who will be trained to become trainers. Then, they will convey the knowledge gained to fellow teachers in the area.

This program focuses on three subjects namely UN Science, Mathematics, and Indonesian. In total there are 108 teacher trainers from each province. They will be accompanied by approximately 18 supervisors in each district. So, in total there are 126 participants.

Technically the first TOT was the beginning of the training material in Malang for two weeks. Then, they'll On Going one, namely the practice in their respective schools during the two weeks. After that, they returned to training following the TOT 2 in the form of deepening the experience based on the On Going 1 for 2 weeks.

Then, they return melukan Going On 2. Here they began to design a program that has been obtained from TOT 1 and 2. Afterwards, one teacher trainers will teach nine teachers. Later, there will be a total of approximately 1080 teachers.

This empowerment leads to a primary school teacher with the consideration that the number of primary schools in Indonesia is very big. In addition, elementary education is the beginning of the estuary of the basic education of every child, said Isnandar.

Program UM TEQIP Pertamina is certainly a breath of fresh air amid the negative stigma of Indonesian education. Hopefully through these steps, can make a world of education in Indonesia is more talk in the world arena and student loan consolidation center
